Djo, look forward to following your blog, great idea!
Hi Djo! Just read your article in HQ about your first Halloween in America. Very funny! I’ve got a tip for you on how to keep the squirrels away from your pumpkins. I’ve tried many things over the years and finally found something that works! Buy a can of Polyurethane spray (used normally for furniture). Spray a layer of it all over your pumpkin. The squirrels will take one small bite and that will be it! I’m guessing Polyurethane does not have a delicious taste. One bite is all it takes to deter them (and I’ve never had any dead squirrels on my lawn . . . so the one bite does not do them in)! An added bonus . . . your pumpkins are nice and shiny! I’ve also been able to carve them after spraying them, and still be able to put a lit candle inside without it catching on fire! Have fun and Happy Halloween!
